Party away Oktoberfest Malaysia 2013

It's October and you know what that means...... time to party with Oktoberfest!

Just so you're Oktoberfest-ready, here are traditions and fun facts about this celebration :

1. When partying away during Oktoberfest...

The beer usually drunk (getit getit) during is brewed within the city limits of Munich. Paulaner Oktoberfest Bier, which is brewed especially for Oktoberfest, will be the official beer for Oktoberfest Malaysia. So if you want to be as German as you can be, you know which way to go haha.

2. Taking a Oktoberfest mug home is against the law

In Germany, police will be on the lookout for thieves stealing official Oktoberfest mugs (no I'm not kidding!). Whoever's caught can be fined up to 50 Euros! That's over RM200 and I don't think you want these people tackling you to the ground for stealing a mug haha.

But good news for us here in Malaysia! Guinness Anchor Berhad (GAB) will be giving away special edition 1 liter Ceramic Oktoberfest Mug when you enjoy their iconic brews, which include Tiger, Guinness, Heineken and of course, Paulaner Oktoberfest Bier. So you won't have to break the German law to get a souvenir mug.

3. Get ready for some fun and the chicken dance

The celebration of Oktoberfest is always filled with fun things to do like horse races, dancing and dress ups. Not many know this, but Oktoberfest is also known for the Chicken Dance - which is a German drinking song and one of the many Oktoberfest traditions! Here are the moves, you know, so you keep to tradition :

4. Fun fact!
As Oktoberfest is a time to meet new people (who share the same love of beer as you do) what better way to break the ice than with a fun fact :

Oktoberfest was first celebrated in the 19th century to commemorate the marriage between the Prince and Princess of Saxe-Hildburghausen which was celebrated in Theresienwiese (Therese's field). That's why the Germans refer to Oktoberfest as die Wiesn (the field). Maybe we should too, especially to commemorate the people who brought us Oktoberfest. lol

5.  Prost! noch ein bier bitte
Which means : Cheers! Another beer please!

You're now ready to take on Oktoberfest Malaysia, so get ready for some themed parties, food, contests, promos and of course, beer!

You'd want to be in the know of all the events and promos happening throughout Malaysia during Oktoberfest! So check out Oktoberfest Malaysia's Facebook page for updates.

Glücklich Oktoberfest!
